Yesterday, Milwaukee, after two games in Arizona, was still almost -6 VMI. So why did they hit it so well against the 4-seamer?
The hitters should still be adjusting to that pitch regardless of its location within the zone, according to the VMI. How can you tell when this may happen? More specifically, the hitters for MIL would be about 3/4 of an inch below that pitch. You should have checked the pitcher's speed as a fantasy player or over/under player, because the VMI is set up for a 95mph pitch.
A pitcher loses one inch of lift on his fastball for every 5 mph below 95 and gains one inch for every 5 mph above it. That would offset the -6 VMI and put the Brewers visual memory on target. Arizona did not do anything wrong and Milwaukee did not erase any of the understanding by hitting the 4-seamer well. #howdtheywin #whydtheylose
